A Key to happiness

In fashion, we all know of the “key”, that one key a lot of us are after, the Tiffany key. I got my first key on an oath, an oath I promised myself  not to break. “I am in charge of my own happiness” and for that oath, the Tiffany key I got represented they key to my happiness. As I was a junior employee then, I barely managed to get the silver heart shaped key(pic1). It, however, made a lot of difference, as I felt I should always depend on myself and no one else. I did not wear it much as I kept feeling I should keep it protected, as it was(still is) very valuable for me in price and sentiment. Then, I decided, given what it represented, I should always keep it on.

Unfortunately, one day, the chain broke. I cried that night, I felt, maybe it’s a bad omen for my happy key to fall off of my neck. Then I remembered, they key chain broke, not my promise to myself, not the control I should have on my feelings, and as I am in charge of my happiness, I decided a broken chain should not affect my decision to stay happy.

Few months after the incident, and close to my birthday, my brother and his daughter walked up to me with a little blue bag, my niece’s tiny hand holding that bag is such a precious picture I see every time I see my little silver 3 mini keys(pic2). I also cried as I opened my gift, however this time, with happy tears. My sister in law had picked the 3-key pendant as it was a new addition to the Tiffany's key collection. Such a perfect birthday gift. It was a bit early but I guess, my broken thumb(at that time) was a good reason for an early gift.

I absolutely love  my 3-key pendant, they come in 3 different shapes, a heart, trefoil and oval. I look at the pendant as more than an oath; it is a sign of love, warmth and appreciation and I absolutely adore it.

Then, a wonderful friend of mine got me another key, the knot key pendant in 18k rose gold(pic3). What a lovely and special material. This one I wear daily, for that reason of “wear it, remember me, and remember your oath everyday”

Truth is the key of my happiness lies in my hands, but being loved by the ones surrounding me is a gift that should not be underestimated or over looked. That bliss of love doesn't just make you happy, it makes you content.

(sorry if the quality of the pictures is not good, they were taken by different cameras)
